Full rules for the Flower Show

The Flower Show Program contains all the information you need to know about the categories of flowers, plants, herbs & shrubs you can enter and rules of entry. Download the full program here.

But here are the basics ...

  • General Rules

    • Avoid any rare, threatened, endangered, or invasive plants.

    • For each entry, you must fill out a Horticulture Entry Sheet (download below) and a 3x5" entry card.

  • You may enter more than one entry per class if each entry is a different species, variety, cultivar, type, or color.

  • Cut specimens should be displayed in colorless bottles. You can use clear marbles to help balance top-heavy cuttings but the cut end must be visible above the marbles. Do not have foliage below the water line. You can use clear bubble-wrap to hold the cutting upright in the neck of the bottle.

  • For container-grown specimens, use unadorned plastic, ceramic or clay containers no more than 6" wide. Containers with holes must have saucers, and double potting is permitted if the inner pot is not visible.

  • Bring your entries to Sugar Water on Friday from 2-4 pm or Saturday from 7:30-9:30 am. Pick up your entries after the show,4-4:30 pm.

  • Make sure your entries are posed and wedged in their containers when you drop them off.
